Temporary signs include, but are not limited to, placards, banners, pennants, posters, or other outdoor advertising displays not intended to be permanently displayed. Temporary signs shall be non-illuminated and shall not exceed thirty-two (32) square feet of surface display area. No such signs shall be snipe signs.

Temporary signs are allowed in commercial, office, and industrial districts for up to fifteen (15) consecutive days, for special events such as, but not limited to, grand openings; business closings; and promotional events such as seasonal sales.
Temporary signs are allowed in all other zoning districts for up to thirty (30) consecutive days, for special events such as, but not limited to, art and cultural events; recreation and sporting events; and appertaining to campaigns, drives or events of civic, philanthropic, educational or religious organizations.

Chicken Coop Permit Fee (One-time fee: $25.00)
This is a one-time fee that covers the cost of our inspector's visit. You are required to call in a final inspection once the coop is in place. You cannot get your chicken permit until this step is complete.
Chicken Permit Fee (Annual Fee: $25.00)
This is paid at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter. Once you have completed your inspection of the coop, you are given a tag to take to the Animal Shelter to get your permit to have chickens. DO NOT PURCHASE CHICKENS BEFORE YOU HAVE YOUR PERMITS.

Hens must be kept in a fenced enclosure at all times and provided with a covered, predator-resistant henhouse. These shall be properly ventilated, clean, dry, and odor-free.

Neither the henhouse nor the fenced enclosure may be located less than ten (10) feet from any abutting property line.
The slaughtering of hens is prohibited.

A land disturbance permit is required prior to initiation of grading work on any single family/duplex (two unit) residential lot, any addition to an existing residential unit, and/or nonresidential development. A copy of the site plan indicating the location of proposed structures, driveway, and all areas where grading and land disturbance will be performed must be submitted with this application for staff review. The permit holder shall comply with the following criteria:
Prior to beginning land disturbance, adequate temporary erosion control measures shall be provided to trap sediment from leaving the property onto the street, adjoining properties, or into nearby streams and storm drains. These measures must be correctly installed and maintained. Examples are detailed in the guide provided.

If sediment or debris is transported from the property, the areas shall be cleaned immediately by shoveling or sweeping the material back onto the property.

Removal of sediment traps shall not occur until after final seeding/mulching of disturbed earth, and sufficient grass cover is established (90%) to reduce erosion. Seeding/mulching is to be completed no later than 15 days after project completion or 15 days of inactivity.

The approval of this permit or approval of the actual construction shall not constitute a representation or warranty that the plans or construction comply with applicable governmental requirements or applicable engineering, design or safety standards.

New driveways must have a hard surface (pavers, asphalt, concrete) from the street to the Right of Way line. The curb must be cut, and must meet City specifications. Permit holder is responsible for any damage to existing asphalt.

Call 811 to verify utilities before disturbing land. Any work being performed inside the Right Of Way is at the owner’s risk.
